Underneath the glistening orange Mustang paint, are fiberglass and steel body panels, of a 2013 Ford Mustang GT.  At first glance it is a throw back to 1969 and is a great retro rebuild that has reproduction 1969 mirrors, chrome door handles and other badging that have been detailed correct for the period.

The rebuilt Mustang features all the factory air conditioning, six airbags and a full factory warranty which is rare with a full rebuild. Don’t forget the retro 2013 Mustang also comes with a fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8 with an output of 420 hp.

The team at Retrobuilt based in Lamar, Missouri, is best known for the recreation of the Carroll Shelby models of the past. RetroBuilt has developed a new style and instead of restoring classics to new condition they are now using a new process. They are fabricating classic model rebuilds on the current-generation Ford S197-platforms.

Retrobuilt said they, “allow auto enthusiasts to benefit from the technology and manufacturing of a modern Ford Mustang while combining the classic styling of 1969 muscle cars.”

Retrobuilt recently invited Auto Blog to drive the 1969 Fastback after its debut at the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association’s trade show (SEMA) in Las Vegas and has the full review and all the details of this, new classic?
